What's with the voice

I have posted before about the moany warble singing that seems to be all the rage - but having heard Shakira's latesty effort on the radio recently, this topic had to come up again.

Not only does she sound like she's singing through her nose while being dragged over gravel, but those sudden 'screamy yodel high-low drop' moments are something else. It certainly isn't pleasant on the ears.
